Elisha Cuthbert is a young, up-and-coming starlet who is best known for her role as Kim Bauer, CTU agent Jack Bauer’s daughter on the hit TV series “24”. Before landing that breakthrough role, Elisha made her career in Canada, being a well-known child actress on various Canadian films and two popular children’s series – “Are You Afraid of the Dark” and “Popular Mechanics for Kids”. It was her reporting for the latter role that even got her invited to the White House by then-First Lady Hillary Clinton.
Elisha was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Kevin and Patricia Cuthbert, on November 30, 1982. Her mother Patricia is a homemaker while her father Kevin worked as an automotive design engineer. At seventeen, she graduated from Centennial Regional High School in 2000, and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Soon after her move to LA, she was cast in the role of Kim Bauer for the new Fox real-time action series “24” with Kiefer Sutherland as her father Jack Bauer, and the rest is television history. She only appeared in the show’s first three seasons though, and only guest-starred in two episodes in the series’ fifth season. She also reprised her role for the videogame based on the series, and may be involved in the planned “24: The Movie”. But even if she were unattached this franchise’s future plans, Elisha has already parlayed her part on this hit series into a career she can be proud of.
It wasn’t long after her role as Kim Bauer that she started landing parts in Hollywood productions like “Old School” and “Love Actually”. Her first starring role though, came in 2004’s “The Girl next Door”, where she played the part of an ex-porn star. She researched the part by interviewing real porn stars from Wicked Pictures and Vivid Entertainment, and she sizzled on the big screen, making the film a small cult hit, especially for the young male populace.
Her next big-screen part was as the resident girlfriend-in-trouble in the 2005 horror movie remake “House of Wax”, with other young Hollywood heartthrobs like Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray. She followed up that popcorn flick with an indie film, “The Quiet”, and then went back to thrillers with “Captivity” in 2007. A role as a quadriplegic in “He Was A Quiet Man” was her last movie outing, although she has several movies lined up for production in 2008, including voicing a part in the animated “Cat Tale”, and a romantic lead in “My Sassy Girl”, a remake of a Korean cult hit.
In her personal life, she was engaged to Justin Timberlake’s friend Trace Ayala in June 2004, but has already cancelled the engagement. She has had relationships with two ice-hockey players since then, with Sean Avery of the New York Rangers, and currently with Dion Phaneuf of the Calgary Flames. She is a big fan of the sport, along with her family.
